Nutanix solutions from an architectural perspective
Nutanix delivers enterprise private cloud solutions on top of its flagship hyper-converged infrastructure. Furthermore, the solutions bring the scale, resilience, and economic benefits to the enterprise. With this blog, I am trying to uncover Nutanix solutions from an architectural perspective
As a first step, the following blocks are developed to group the various solution into architectural layers
Nutanix Solutions Architectural Blocks
- Core HCI software: The main software piece for Nutanix HCI is “Acropolis (AOS)”, cleary it abstract resources such as a hypervisor, disk, network, etc, and present as a single platform to the hosted applications.
- Hypervisor: Surely, this layer caters any of the major three hypervisor solutions which are Nutanix AHV, VMware ESXi and Microsoft hyper-V
- Platform and infrastructure solutions: This layer addresses various needs which includes app modernization, files and object storage, replication, etc
- Operation and Management: This block is primary about a one-click solution based on Nutanix prism and it addresses the key provisioning, planning, and monitoring needs
- App provisioning and automation: “Nutanix Calm” is the key solution component in this block, addressing the application deployment use cases
- Native cloud services: This includes solutions such as Xi Leap, Frame and Cloud connect
- Multi-cloud management & governance: Nutanix Beam is the solution in this layer addressing costing, compliance, etc use cases.
- Benchmarking and sizing: Sizer and X-Ray tools are key solutions part of this block
- Deployment layer: Foundation is the automation tools to set-up and deploys the Nutanix solution
From the above block diagram, you could find – Nutanix addressing various automation and agility needs for the enterprises – especially around operation & management, disaster recovery, app automation, and multi-cloud management, etc.
